Job Details: This is a temporary and part-time (10-20 hrs/wk) grant-funded position to start in January 2010 through June of 2014. Dynamic opportunity for those interested in the area of pediatric obesity.

Duties: Provide in-home nutrition sessions (that would utilize Motivational Interviewing techniques) to obese African American adolescents and their primary caregiver prior to the start of a home based weight loss research project. The RD would also act as a nutrition consultant for community health interventionists during the research project. The RD may also do health outreach projects (health fairs, nutrition/cooking classes) in the community.
Timeline: This position would begin in January with training/supervision in Motivational Interviewing and research protocol development. Meeting with families will start late January and February.
Qualifications: Individual must be a registered dietitian or RD-eligible. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are desired. In-home sessions take place in the Detroit community within 25 miles of Children’s Hospital of MI and applicants are required to provide their own transportation.

Qualifications
Education and Experience: A qualified Food Service Manager: (1) has graduated from a two-year accredited program in Food Service Management, Culinary Arts, or Food and Nutrition; (2) Meets the educational and training requirements for membership and registration as a Registered Dietetic Technician; (3) two (2) years experience in Commercial Food and/or Food Service Management.
Skill Requirements: To manage the Nutrition Component of a Head Start program in a Delegate Agency under the direction of a Nutrition Coordinator or Nutrition Consultant. To develop, implement, and supervise a food service program and staff, and to perform related work as required. Good skills in production and batch cooking, purchasing and menu development.
